Stream Coast on your Amazon Alexa or in-home assistant

Looking to get Coast on your voice assistant? Here's how you can have Coast streaming live on your handy new device. 

After plugging in your Alexa device and downloading the Amazon Alexa app, open the app on your phone, click on the menu top left and then click Settings.

Scroll down and select Music and then select iHeartRadio under Manage Services 

Select Link Account, you will then be prompted to enter your iHeartRadio username and password, then click Activate.

You are now good to start streaming our live stations with the power of your voice! All you have to do is ask Alexa:

 "Alexa, play Coast FM on iHeartRadio"

"Alexa, play Coast '80s on iHeartRadio"

 

Using another device?

Most people in NZ are using Alexa, but if you're using another voice assistant like a Google Home, a Apple Homepod, a Bixby device, Bose Sonos or most other devices. You'll be able to find Coast by asking

Instructions for setting up iHeart in Alexa app:

  • Settings > Music & Podcasts > Link New Service > Launch iHeartRadio THEN Settings > Music & Podcasts > Default Services > Artist & Genre Stations - set to iHeart Radio.

The utterances are tested (usually) monthly by Amazon. The only supported utterance is "Alexa play Coast FM on iHeartRadio".

Always ensure you are using the latest Alexa app version and the latest speaker firmware.

Also, make sure you have the correct location and language set. This can be checked using the following:

Language:

1. Open the Alexa app.

2. Open More and select Settings.

3. Select Device Settings.

4. Select your device.

a. For Echo Auto, select More Settings.

5. Under Language, select your preferred language.

6. Select the language you want to set your device to.

Location:

1. Open the Alexa app.

2. Select Devices.

3. Select Echo & Alexa, and then select your device.

4. Select Device Location.

5. Enter your complete address, and then select Save.

 

For Google Devices:

The only supported utterance is "Hey Google play Coast FM on iHeartRadio".

Always ensure you are using the latest Google Home app version and the latest speaker firmware.

 

For Apple Devices:

The recommended utterance is "Hey Siri play Coast FM on iHeartRadio".

Always ensure you are using the latest iOs app version.

You can also set up a personalised Siri shortcut in the iHeart app. When listing to a station expand the player, click three dots and click Add to Siri. From there you can record your own shortcut utterance.
