Björn Ulvaeus reveals ABBA will "definitely" release new music this year following studio reunion

The Swedish supergroup is set to make a comeback, with new music on the way.

And now Björn Ulvaeus has shared an update on their soon-to-be-released songs in a new interview.

Speaking to The Herald Sun, the legendary musician confirmed their five new tracks will "definitely" be released this year.

"There will be new music this year, that is definite, it's not a case anymore of it might happen, it will happen," he said.

The 76-year-old - who is joined by Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad in the chart-topping group - also revealed that the foursome have been meeting in Stockholm to discuss their reunion.

"We're really, really good friends. The four of us stand in the studio for the first time in 40 years and there's just something in knowing what we've been through," he continued.

"It's hard to describe, but there are such strong, strong bonds between us."

The Swedish quartet originally announced in 2018 they were planning to record new tracks for the first time in over 35 years.

Thanks to the global pandemic, the song releases of 'I Still Have Faith In You' and 'Don’t Shut Me Down' had to be delayed, along with the planned ABBAtar hologram tour.

The group went their separate ways in 1982 at the height of their career.

They performed together for the first time in decades in 2016 at a private event, which marked the 50th anniversary of the first meeting between songwriters Björn and Benny.
