After it was announced earlier this year that Bradley Walsh would be starring as the loveable family patriarch Pop Larkin in the latest adaptation of The Darling Buds Of May - we have some "perfick" news for fans of the show ...

The Larkins is getting a Christmas special!

Following on from the success of the new series, Walsh, Joanna Scanlan and the rest of the cast will be returning to their roles for the special feature-length episode.

Set in the late 1950s, the special sees talk in the sleepy Kent village of the pantomime and an ongoing spate of burglaries, with Miss Pilchester, the Normans and Johnny Delamere among the victims.

Whilst PC Harness (played by Bradley's real-life son Barney Walsh) applies his limited gifts to finding the culprit, Mariette and Charley take their love to the next level.

Filming for the festive special is believed to have taken place in Kent back in October.

Scalnan, who plays Ma, has teased the episode hinting there's a big "twist" to come.

She said: "I will not say a word specifically but there are lots of twists and turns in it.

"It genuinely does remind you what Christmas is about – what it really is about – as well as giving you, of course, I hope a lot of laughs and pleasure on the way."

She added: "It's got a twist, to say the least of it."

The Larkins at Christmas will air on Christmas Day in the UK. We're crossing our fingers it also comes to screens here.
