Rowers Brooke Donoghue and Hannah Osborne have won New Zealand's second medal of the Tokyo Olympics after claiming silver in the women's double sculls today.

Romania's Ancuta Bodnar and Simona Radis won gold after sprinting away to claim victory in 6.41.03, with Netherland's Lisa Scheenaard de Weert and Roos de Jong in third at 6.45.73.

Donoghue and Osborne came in at 6.44.82.

"I'm pretty overwhelmed. It was an awesome race, we did our best and I'm so glad to have a medal," Donoghue said after the race.

"I've been thinking about this moment every day for the last two years. To put it wider than that, every session for the past 11 years. It's huge. To finally be done is just crazy."

While Osbourne added: "I just want to cry. I'm so happy. I'm absolutely over the moon."

Congratulations Brooke and Hannah!
