Today New Zealand has one new confirmed case of COVID in the community and one in managed isolation, says Dr William Rainger, the Director of the Auckland Regional Public Health Service.

The community case is linked to the current South Auckland cluster.

The MIQ case is in Christchurch - a woman in her 30s who arrived in New Zealand from the Philippines.

There are seven people in hospital, including two patients in intensive care.

There are 16 previously reported cases who are considered to have recovered today – all community cases.

That brings the total number of active cases to 115 in New Zealand, with 79 in the community.

The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand since the pandemic began is 1,408.

After 18 days, Auckland moved into level 2 like the rest of the country on Sunday at 11.59pm, except with stricter rules on gatherings.

Gatherings for Aucklanders are restricted to 10 people at level 2, while a 50-person limit is in place for funerals and tangi.

These settings will be in place for a week and Cabinet will review them on Sunday 6 September.
