Coronavirus: New Zealand has one new case of COVID-19

Today New Zealand has one new case of COVID-19 - taking the total number of cases in New Zealand at 1,498, the Ministry of Health has announced.

Today's confirmed case is linked to the Marist cluster in Auckland and was identified through recent follow-up testing of the school community, the ministry said.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,148.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 21, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

There are two people in hospital, none of whom are in ICU.

There are now just 56 active cases across the country.

This means 95 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

New Zealand has moved into alert level 2, with cafes and malls allowed to open. Schools can resume from Monday.
