Coronavirus: NZ has 22 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the community

New Zealand has 22 new cases of Covid-19 in the community, reports the Ministry of Health.

All of the new cases are in Auckland (including 3 cases in Whakatīwai).

Today a total of 694 cases are now reported as having recovered from Covid-19. All of the Wellington cases are recovered.

That brings the total number of active cases in the community in Auckland to 377 (the total number of cases in this outbreak is now 1,071).

Five of today's cases are yet to be epidemiologically linked.

There are 16 people in hospital, including four patients in intensive care.

Cabinet is meeting this afternoon to reassess the alert levels for the whole country. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is set to announce the decision at 4pm.

Auckland is currently in its fifth week at alert level 4.

While the rest of the country is at alert level 2.

New Zealand has had 3,725 confirmed cases since the pandemic began last year.
