Coronavirus: Today New Zealand has no new cases of coronavirus

Today New Zealand has no new cases of COVID-19 - leaving the total number of cases in New Zealand at 1,499, says Director-General of health Ashley Bloomfield.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,149.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 21, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

There are two people in hospital, none of whom are in ICU.

A total of 1,433 people reported as having recovered from Covid-19 - no change on yesterday.

This means 96 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

Thousands of New Zealanders returned to work today for the first full week of alert level 2.

Schools also reopened for all students, and later this week bars will be able to reopen. Restaurants and most businesses were allowed to reopen on Thursday, with strict social distancing rules.

The Prime Minister said this morning that the number of people allowed to attend church gatherings could rise in the next two weeks.
