Hilary Barry is entertaining fans once again with her latest "Formal Friday" outfit.

This week the much-loved TV presenter donned a red and green tartan gown, which she revealed was the dress she wore to her own 21st birthday party in 1990.

Alongside the picture, the 50-year-old cheekily wrote: "This #formalfriday I give you the outfit my mum made me for my 21st.

"Seems I was fond of #newscleave even back in 1990."

Barry came up with the "newscleave" hashtag after receiving many complaints over the years about her outfits showing too much cleavage while she was on the air.

The most recent complaint came from a woman in September last year who posted: "Hilary, plenty of cleavage on show tonight. Not all that pretty!"

Today's outfit comes after Hilary previously dressed in an elegant black sequined dress with a low plunging mesh neckline and a tiara and a bright red ball dress - which featured a big bow on one shoulder.

Last year Barry won The New Zealand Television Award for Best News and Current Affairs Presenter for her coverage of the Christchurch mosque attacks.

We love it! Keep up the amazing outfits, Hilary!
