When it comes to the Cambridge children's birthdays, Kate Middleton loves to treat royal fans with new family photos.

But this weekend, she turned her camera on husband Prince William, who turned 38 on Sunday.

In celebration of the future King's birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge released three new portraits of William playing with their children - Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

In the two of the sweet snaps, William and Kate's three children pile on top of their royal dad for an adorable action shot.

The third image captures William sitting on a rope swing holding Louis as both George and Charlotte smile for the camera while standing beside their dad.

According to the royal's official Instagram account, the photos - which were shot by Kate Middleton - were taken earlier this month in the grounds of the Cambridge's Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new picture of The Duke with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ahead of The Duke's birthday tomorrow," the Instagram caption read.

Happy birthday Prince William!
