As the birthday celebrations continue for Prince Louis, Prince Charles has taken to social media to wish his grandson a "very happy" second birthday.

Alongside his message, Charles shared a heartwarming never-before-seen photo of the little prince and it gave us all the feels.

The black-and-white photograph - which was shot by Kate Middleton - shows the future King sharing a warm embrace with Louis.

Next to the photo, the 71-year-old wrote: "A very Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns two today.

"The young Prince enjoys a hug from his Grandfather, The Prince of Wales."

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a set of photos showing Louis dressed in a smart blue gingham-style having fun while creating a colourful piece of art.

According to the royal's official Instagram account, the photos - which were also captured by Catherine - were taken earlier this month in the grounds of the Cambridge's Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

The birthday boy's artwork is likely to be part of William and Kate's home-schooling lessons.

"Sharing a sneak peek of Prince Louis’s handiwork ahead of his second birthday!" a statement from Kensington Palace said, which was released alongside the photos on social media.

"We are pleased to share images ahead of Prince Louis’s second birthday tomorrow, taken by The Duchess this April."
