While Archie Harrison celebrated his first birthday last week, it has now been revealed his mum Meghan Markle marked the special day by baking him a smash cake.

The Duchess of Sussex - who is now living in Los Angeles with her husband Prince Harry after they stepped down as senior British royals earlier this year - celebrated the tot's big milestone with the popular messy homemade strawberry and cream cake.

While Harry decorated the $18 million mansion they are staying in with lots of balloons and decorations.

According to a source the family enjoyed a "really simple but incredibly joyous" day.

The insider said: "Meghan made the cake - strawberries and cream. And Harry helped with decorations and blew up balloons.

"They Zoomed with godparents, friends and family and had a really simple but incredibly joyous day."
