Regé-Jean Page in talks to return to Bridgerton for season three as the Duke of Hastings

Regé-Jean Page left audiences swooning with his role as The Duke of Hastings in the first season of Bridgerton.

But while he may have jumped ship after season one, word around the ton is Simon Bassett is considering a return to the incredibly popular series - adapted from Julia Quinn's novels - for the next season.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Page is open to returning to the show that made his name.

"Regé-Jean was always very open about his intention to quit the show after the first season and to move on to other projects. But recently there has been a dialogue between him and the show's bosses," a source said.

"Nothing has been formally agreed yet, but watch this space. Things are very up in the air at the moment, but this will be an exciting year for Rege, without a doubt."

Fans will no doubt be thrilled by the possibility of the 34-year-old actor returning as there was an outcry when he left the series, with the Duke of Hastings' love story with Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) having been watched by an estimated 63 million households across the globe.
