Shania Twain is looking back on the highs and lows of her life and record-breaking career in a new documentary, Not Just A Girl.

The film hit Netflix this week - and if the empowering and surprisingly emotional trailer is anything to go by, it's a must-watch!

Not Just A Girl chronicles the life journey of Twain, from her humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, where she was raised poor and inspired by the story of Dolly Parton, through to becoming one of country music's most popular and influential artists.

Directed by Joss Crowley, the doco also doesn't shy away from the 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman!' hitmaker's personal life.

Touching on her 1993 marriage and subsequent divorce from producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after it was revealed that he had been having an affair with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, Twain says the painful split "was similarly intense to losing my parents."

Also featured are praise-filled testimonials from other stars, including Avril Lavigne, Kelsea Ballerini, Orville Peck and Lionel Richie, among others.
