The Chase's Anne Hegerty looks unrecognisable in throwback Mastermind appearance

We're used to seeing her in a grey suit with her hair slicked back, but Anne Hegerty left fans doing a doubletake after a throwback photo from her appearance on Mastermind was unearthed.

The Governess appeared on the game show in 1987 where she was tested on the topic of 'The Life and Works of Lorenz Hart.'

And in true '80s fashion, Hegerty was almost unrecognisable with a curly bob hairstyle and large clear-rimmed glasses.

She was also seen wearing an oversized multicoloured frock adorned in multiple patterns.

Mastermind wasn't the only game show that the unstoppable quiz titan appeared on.

She has also appeared on the likes of Fifteen to One, Today's the Day and Are You an Egghead?.

The quiz master later joined The Chase in 2010.

Hegerty was previously ranked 55th overall as a quizzer and second among women in the World Quizzing Championships.
