Dogs have long been considered man’s best friend, but should you let your pooch sprawl across your bed at night?
The answer is YES!
For starters, having a dog around, even while you sleep, will make you a healthier, happier person.
Research performed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute of Health shows that dogs help minimise stress which will lower cholesterol and triglycerides levels.
Studies have also shown that people with depression can feel better with a dog around. Petting a dog raises oxytocin levels, a feel-good hormone that can increase relaxation, trust, and well-being.
But did you know they can also help you sleep better?
People suffering from insomnia have reported that having a dog in their bed helps them fall asleep.
As it has been proven the presence of slumbering dogs chases away stress accumulated throughout the day, and the rhythmic sound of their breathing works better than a lullaby.
So if you're in need of a good night's sleep it may be time to let your pooch snuggle up with you!
