2/11 The rose for your partner: This is common scam in Europe, where a stranger will offer your partner a rose. The catch? It’s well over-priced, and they’ll hassle you until you hand the money over.

3/11 The found ring: This is a classic Parisian scam, where a woman will drop a ring in front of you and ask if you dropped it. Don’t say yes. And be careful because even if you do say no she will most likely offer to sell it to you for a crazy price.

4/11 The overly helpful person at an ATM: It can be difficult trying to figure out how to use an overseas ATM, but be wary of any bystanders offering help. They may be noting your pin code with a plan to pickpocket you later.

5/11 The broken camera: In this scam someone will approach you with a camera and ask you to take a photo of them. They will have broken the camera prior, but they’ll accuse you of being the culprit!

7/11 The ‘accidental’ stain: In this scam someone will ‘accidentally’ spill something on your clothes, then they will offer to clean it up. But instead of cleaning it, they’re actually going through your pockets.

8/11 The fake ticket: If you’re queuing to buy tickets for an attraction or show an official looking person will offer you a higher priced ticket to bypass the queue. While this is tempting, don’t act too surprised when you get to the gate and notice these tickets don’t work.

9/11 The fake call from the front desk: In this common travel scam an identity thief will call your hotel room pretending to be from the front desk and ask for your credit card details. Whatever you do, do not give them your details. Go downstairs to the front desk to confirm it’s a legitimate request.

10/11 The punctured tyre: If your hire car has a punctured tyre it has most likely been purposely tampered with. While locals will pull over and offer help, they will use the opportunity to rummage around your car for valuables.

11/11 The amazing jewellery deal: In places like Thailand and India, your driver will deviate from his real destination to take you via a jewellery store instead of where you actually want to go. The intention here is to have you buy some merchandise which is apparently at ‘bargain’ prices, they will badger you.
