The Chase is one of the most loved shows on TV, with millions of people tuning in every day.

But a recent episode of the hit series sent viewers hearts into overdrive when, for the first time in its history, a "fifth team member" featured on the show.

Before going head-to-head with Anne "The Governess" Hegerty, Craig introduced himself and Fred to Bradley Walsh.

Craig said: "I'm registered fully blind but I have a small amount of functioning vision."

"You have to have a guide dog, of course, and here he is, it's Fred," Bradley added.

Talking to the furry quizzer, Bradley asked: "You alright, Fred? You enjoying it? How long have you been with Craig, Fred?"

Answering on Fred's behalf, the 29-year-old said: "He's been with me for five years now."

When asked by Bradley what he would spend the money on if he managed to beat The Governess, Craig confessed: "I need a bigger telly because of my eyesight."

Fans of the show flocked to social to praise the contestant and his guide dog.

One wrote: "Fred is my favourite ever contestant #TheChase."

Another exclaimed: "Craig MUST win so Fred can have boneys #TheChase."

"Fred the guide dog is gorgeous, such a good boy #TheChase," said someone else.

Unfortunately, there won't be any "boneys" for Fred, as Anne caught the team with just five seconds spare.
