Earlier this year it was revealed that the hit musical CATS has been made into a movie ...

And now the official trailer has been unveiled and it sure is wild!

The film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical features one impressive lineup, including actors such as Idris Elba, Dame Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Rebel Wilson and James Corden, alongside musicians, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson and Jason Derulo.

However, not even the star-studded cast could stop fans from slamming the new trailer.

Keeping true to the stage show, the movie features large sets and human style cats, however, their fur is entirely CGI - which has left viewers feeling "uncomfortable".

"This movie looks kind of creepy I wish they would have used the makeup in the musical instead of this weird CGI thing," one person commented.

"This makes me feel really uncomfortable," another added.

"I love CATS the musical, but I’m genuinely scared for this movie," a third wrote.

Someone else claimed: "If this were practical effects instead of CGI I would find it awesome, the CGI actually looks terrifying."

The film is being directed by Tom Hooper who is known for his work on Les Misérables, The Danish Girl and The King’s Speech.

CATS will hit cinemas in New Zealand on December 26.
