A British couple who were getting married in Las Vegas got the surprise of their life when none other than Sir Rod Stewart appeared!

Sharon Cook and Andrew Aitchison, from Liverpool, almost had their big day ruined after the airline they had booked flights with, Thomas Cook, went bust just days before they were set to tie the knot.

Left in turmoil and faced with having their nuptials cancelled, their wedding venue, Caesars Palace, stepped in and arranged for the bride and groom as well as 14 of their friends and family to be flown over, before surprising them with a performance from the legendary rocker at the altar.

The 'Maggie May' singer serenaded the newlyweds with his romantic single, 'Have I Told You Lately', with the couple later describing their special day as being like a "dream".

Taking to Twitter, Andrew wrote: "So @rodstewart just turned up at our wedding and sang to my wife! I can’t believe what has happened in the last week and this has just topped it off.

"Thank you Rod you’ve absolutely made our dream wedding you absolute legend. We Can’t wait to see you Friday #LikeACaesar #SirRod."

The 74-year-old musician is currently performing his residency at the hotel, so was reportedly more than happy to make a secret appearance at the chapel.
